Does Nutrisystem Work?

If you are trying to lose weight, you probably have investigated the numerous commercial diet plans available to you. Many of us try to lose weight on our own and many of us do succeed at it. But, some of us need more of the structure that the commercial diet plans seem to offer. One of today’s most popular commercial diet plans is Nutrisystem. With the help of celebrity success stories such as Dan Marino, Jillian Barberie, and Marie Osmond, it seems as though Nutrisystem has exploded onto the scene. These success stories may have you asking, does Nutrisystem work?

First, you may need a little background on what the Nutrisystem program is all about. There are separate Nutrisystem programs for women and men, but they are quite similar. The difference between them is simply the adjustment for the different nutritional needs of men and women. You eat 5 times a day on Nutrisystem. A 4 week supply of Nutrisystem includes 28 days of meals. This will include over 120 meals plus desserts. At meal time you basically pick a breakfast, lunch, or dinner meal and follow the preparation instructions. You also supplement your Nutrisystem meals with some additional foods such as fruits, vegetables, and milk.

Secondary to answering the question, does Nutrisystem work, is how much does it cost? A 28 day supply of Nutrisystem will cost you over $300. You must also add to that price the cost of the additional grocery items that you will have to purchase to supplement the Nutrisystem food. The programs’s advocates would probably point out that you will be saving money on the pizza deliveries and other junk foods that you won’t be buying while you’re following the Nutrisystem plan.

There is some evidence available on the effectiveness of the Nutrisystem program. Along with the previously mentioned celebrity success stories, there are many examples of success stories of regular people all over the internet. A recent search for the term “Nutrisystem success stories” brought many examples of real people losing all the way from 20 to well over 100 pounds.

So, does Nutrisystem work? The answer is probably yes. But it is not a magic bullet. Like any other diet plan, you must stick to it to achieve your desired results
